The new Cabinet Secretary for the Environment and Forestry Ministry Keriako Tobiko has revealed that there exist rotten elements within the ranks of the forestry officers.
He warned that stern action would be taken against the culprits, saying that morally questionable officers will be removed from the service.
''I keep reading in the media about the complicity of forestry officers, and a number of them are very good and hardworking but there are rotten ones, and those rotten ones who are custodians of our forest resources must be weeded out,'' a tough-talking Keriako Tobiko said.
Keriako Tobiko was speaking earlier today during a handover ceremony where he took over from his predecessor Judy Wakhungu.
Tobiko assumes the reins of power at a time when forestry officers are locked in controversy.
