A section ofJubilee Party leader in Kirinyaga have told Narc-K leader Martha Karua to join the President Uhuru-led political outfit if she wants to clinch the county’s governorship.
The leaders, among them MCAs, said Karua should fold her party and contest in the Jubilee Party primaries with other aspirants for the ticket.
Majority leader Kinyua Wangui said Kirinyaga is a Jubilee zone and thus all aspirants should back President Uhuru or lose in the 2017 elections.
''Kirinyaga County is a Jubilee Party zone, let no one tell you they are supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta yet they are not ready to join the President's vehicle,'' Kinyua said as quoted by the Star.
They spoke Monday at Kerugoya stadium during Jamhuri Day celebrations.
On his part, County interim Jubilee Party chairman Kangara Mriithi said they will only support Jubilee candidates who win in the primaries.
''Even Uhuru urged Karua to join Jubilee, we as Kirinyaga voters and leaders are also calling on her to join the JP bandwagon if she wants us to consider her bid,'' the Tana Athi Water Services director said.
Karua will battle it out with former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru and the incumbent Governor Joseph Ndathi for the county top seat.
