School heads have been told to accept those involved in cases of same sex romance in boarding schools in the country.

There has been a rise in the cases of homosexuality and lesbianism in both boys and girls boarding schools respectively.

Kisumu Medical and Education Trust (KMET) said that there is an urgent need to address the rising acts in the schools and accept coming to terms with it.

Speaking during a consultative meeting with journalists at their offices, KMET officer, Peter Apamo, said that school heads should employ tact in addressing the issue.

“The principals need to counsel the homosexual students as they equally need to get access to education. Those students should also be treated with fairness just like their other counterparts,” said Apamo.

The Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) worker noted that in most schools, gayism and lesbianism is not accepted and the students risk being expelled from schools if caught in the act.

“We need to treat homosexuals as normal heterosexual relationships just like in western countries for the development and growth of our countries and even schools. Teachers should not be too hard on them so that they can also get access to education,” he said.
