Members of New Life evangelism choir from Tombe area in Nyamira County have embarked on an evangelism mission that targets to raise Sh500,000 in support of underprivileged and orphaned children.
Speaking to HiviSasa.com on Wednesday, choir director Jackson Mirera said his group will traverse all small towns in the Kisii and Nyamira counties to evangelise and ask for support of orphans.
He said many orphans from Manga area had either dropped out of school or ran away from the villages to towns due to harsh living conditions.
“We have planned a series of evangelism campaigns in all townships from Gusii region. We want to spread the gospel and the same time raise Sh500,000 in support of orphans from Manga sub-county,” he said.
“I can testify that many of orphans from the region had either dropped out of school and ran to towns or continued to live in abject poverty that threatens their dreams. That is why we want to evangelise and save a life,” he added.
Mr Mirera asked county governments to identify such vulnerable children and support them to complete their education.
“We now have county governments in place. I believe they are in a position to rectify the situation by supporting such vulnerable children. It is important that they do so because these children need us,” he said
