Nyaribari Chache Member of Parliament Richard Tong’i has called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure that voter registration is conducted at polling stations as opposed to the ward level as planned.
Tong’I has said that some wards were expansive requiring prospective voters to travel long distances while others were heavily populated meaning that there would be long queues to acquire the document.
“Conducting registration at the polling stations will make it easier for all Kenyans to be registered. We do not want to witness a situation where one BVR kit is shared by more than five polling stations just as it happened during the previous mass voter registration. Let every polling station have registration kits to facilitate the ease of the process,” said Tong’i.
The MP was speaking on Sunday evening at Bisabo shopping center in Nyaribari Chache during the launch of a voter registration sensitization exercise.
The MP told the locals to register for national Identity Cards to enable them to register as voters.
