Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong'i has warned Members of the National Assembly against waging war against their governors, and should instead support them in delivering on their campaign pledges to the electorate.
Tong'i observed that having MPs fighting with their governors over petty political differences will derail the achievement of the development agenda for their counties, to the disadvantage of their residents.
Speaking at Gusii Stadium during the marking of this year's Madaraka Day celebrations, Tong'i regretted that political differences between the MPs and governors if not handled well will derail the devolution agenda for the affected counties, and lead to poor socio-economic performance by those counties.
“As MPs, we must support the work of our governors and have them deliver on their development agenda for the benefit of our people, who elected us to serve them,” he said.
“Political differences between MPs and governors should not divert the county government's attention from delivering services to the citizens,” stated Tong'i.
Tong'i advocated for channeling of more funds to the counties, to ensure they meet their development agenda through timely implementation and completion of projects for the benefit of the citizens.
