Flamboyant businessman and political activist Tony Gachoka is a well-schooled, intelligent and silver-tongued man with deep connections that go high up to State House.
However, he has had numerous scandals that have worked against him. After being jailed for six months for contempt of court, his Sunday Post publication died down. He tried a hand in politics but miserably failed when he vied for the Juja parliamentary seat through Safina party in 2012.
He has been accused by his family of losing their multi-million coffee estate. He has neglected his family by kicking them out from their Kileleshwa home and renting them one bedroomed servant quarters in Kilimani. His wife left him due to constant battering and his failure to provide.
“It reached appoint where he would summon the children and make them watch as he battered their mother. Sometime in 2014, when his son tried to intervene, he got a beating of a lifetime. The children are traumatized and all their relatives avoid them because no one wants to engage Gachoka in a war,” one of Gachoka’s blood relatives says
This has traumatized the family leading his second born son to attempt to commit suicide at students’ hotel along Thika road due to depression. “He was frothing at the mouth, shouting very aggressive. He wanted to jump off the balcony. Good Samaritans took him to a hospital nearby where he was diagnosed with depression,” says another relative.
"We just had to come out as a family and decide to let the world know about issues affecting this man. He is a danger to himself and to his family. His children are all either going through depression or having suicidal thoughts," said a respected family member
