Former nominated MP Mark Too was instrumental towards connection of electricity to former Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga’s home, nominated MP Oburu Oginga has recalled.
Too died on Saturday in what has been suspected to be cardiac arrest after decades in active politics.
On Sunday, Oburu paid tribute to Too, describing him as leader with ‘humility and compassion’ who did not play tribal politics.
“I want to appreciate on what he did to us as a family of Jaramogi. When he came to the funeral of my brother the late Shadrack Osewe, he found that Jaramogi’s home had no electricity,” recalled Oburu.
“All those years’ people thought that in Jaramogi’s place there is everything. And so it’s Mark Too who sympathized and said this cannot happen, Jaramongi’s home must have electricity,” he added.
Too will be remembered for forfeiting his nomination slot in parliament in favour of appointment of President Uhuru Kenyatta by the retired President Daniel Moi in 2001.
