On a daily basis, Kenya police receive a good number of reports on crime. Among the top 5 criminal cases include;

1. Fraud

Cases of fraud are so common in Kenya, especially in the job sector. There are Kenyans who ask others to register for jobs with money after which they disappear never to be heard again after collecting money. Kenyans should be aware of these fraudulent acts and report any cases.

2. Armed robbery

This is common in the cities with the muggers. Muggers are in possession of unlicensed guns which they use to rob Kenyans of their belongings and this is most common in busy cities like Nairobi.

Since it is not easy to acquire a gun in Kenya, some reports indicate that the muggers loan the guns from some police.

3. House break-ins

This is the most common crime in Kenya today. Armed thugs break into house both during day time and a lot at night. Since most people are not armed, the thugs would break into their houses and grab all their belongings as they watch. Such cases should be reported to the police immediately after the scenario.

4. Embezzlement of public resources

For a good number of times, cases of money laundering and public resource looting have surfaced mainly involving government officials.

Embezzlement of funds involves the use of public funds for own personal benefits by public office holders. Repercussions of such cases are eviction from office.

5. Rape

Rape, the word most women would not want to hear of. Rape cases in Kenya are on rise and the minors are the most vulnerable. Small girls, middle-aged girls, mothers and older women are all victims to rape.

Such cases are most common in Kitui. Funny how women say they don't report most cases arguing that the police would do nothing. Rape cases mostly result in HIV infection or unwanted pregnancies.

These crimes would only be prevented if Kenyans improved on matters security, surveillance, and alertness.
