Other schools also have contributed their fair share, with Upper Hill, Maseno School and Mangu School being in the front queue as well.

Top rugby players in the country have come from these schools, with the likes of Humphrey Khayage, Lavin Asego and even Steve Biko having shone in Western Kenya for different schools.

However, some schools have produced best players in the country but are yet to shine in the nationwide school leagues.

Vihiga High School

Kenya’s greatest player ever Collins Injera came through the ranks of Vihiga High School, even though they have never won the National Secondary Schools rugby tournament. He rose to become the all-time leading try scorer in the world Sevens Series.

Kisumu Boys

Current Sevens captain Andrew Amonde attended Kisumu Boys High School, which has not won the National Secondary Schools rugby tournament.

Amonde, who has captained the team since 2012, has led the line for the team and was the leading figure as they won the Singapore Sevens rugby tournament in 2016.

Dr. Aggrey High School

This little-known school is in Taiva Taveta County, and many will tell you they have never heard the name. The school has however produced one of the best players the Kenya sevens team has ever had in the name of Willy Ambaka.

The player has represented the country in many tournaments and currently plays in New Zealand.

Kijabe High

The school boasts of having produced another of Kenya's best players in recent years. Oscar Ouma learnt his skills in his early playing days at the school, even though the school never won any national school title.

Oscar, however, went on to make a name for himself, representing the country at the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens, 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland and the 2016 Olympics.

Nyabondo High

One of Kenya’s key players; Horace Otieno went to school at Nyabondo High, where he starred for the school team even though they never won the National Secondary Schools rugby tournament.

The Mwamba RFC player, however, went on to play at the top level and has been one of the mainstays at the national level.
