Locally, we have rich clubs as well and the struggling ones who cannot raise even salary players.

Here is a list of Kenya’s top five richest clubs.

1. Gor Mahia

Gor Mahia collects the highest amount of money in gate collections in the country. The average collection is Sh1 million per home game, which loosely translates to Sh15 million every season.

The club under the sponsorship of Sportpesa was receiving millions of cash, and own a piece of land donated by the government which is valued at Sh6 million.

The club also sells their jerseys and always makes a few millions from the sale.

2. AFC Leopards

The team is a step further of Gor Mahia in their riches. Just like Gor, the team was receiving a considerable amount of cash from sponsors Sportpesa before they pulled out of the deal.

The team also earns well from the sale of their replica jerseys and owns a bus that helps them in their movements.

3. Sofapaka

The team has continued to enjoy sponsorship from East Africa Portland Cement (EAPC) and is among the few that have sponsors.

They have also made profits from the sale of players in recent seasons and continued to dominate local football.

4. Tusker

Tusker has always had a head start over their opponents, with East African Breweries Limited (EABL) sponsoring the team in all seasons.

5. Thika United

The team enjoys a modest sponsorship from Brookside Dairy Limited. They also receive about Sh500,000 from the sale of replica jerseys annually and another Sh1 million from gate collections.
