Kenyan football fans should brace themselves for a more action packed season after the Kenya Premier League reinstated the Top 8 bonanza and the clubs' under-20 championships back to it's calendar for the new season.

The two competitions were missing during the 2017 season owing to lack of sponsors.

However,according to the KPL fixture released on Monday,December 4,the Top 8 cup draw is scheduled for February 4,2018 with the tourney kicking off a month after at the Moi Sports Center Kasarani.

Gor Mahia,Sofapaka,Kariobangi Sharks,Posta Rangers, Kakamega Homeboyz,Tusker,Ulinzi and AFC Leopards are the teams who are expected to take part in the tournament having finished in the first eight positions in the just concluded season.

Gor Mahia and Tusker have each won the trophy twice with other winners being Ulinzi Stars and MuhoroniMuhoron Youth who have each won it once.

Meanwhile the KPL under 20 tourney is also set for a comeback and will feature in three phases:April, August and December as was the scenario in 2016.

The April edition is scheduled for April 15 to April 29 while the August phase kicks off on August 12 to August 29.The December fiesta will begin from November 25 to December 9.

The KPL under 20 normal involves all the youth teams for the teams taking part in the KPL season and began in 2011 although it has not been very consistent.

Past winners include Ulinzi Youth, Thika United Youth,Mathare Youth and Western Stima Youth.
