A premium United States ice cream making company Haagen Dazs will be setting up a shop in Kenya through a local distributor, Kalon Kapital Limited, majorly targeting the growing middle class in the economy.
In an interview with the Business Daily on Wednesday, Kalon Kapital Managing Partner Arjun Patel said that many Kenyans have traveled and have gotten taste of great products thus they would want to access them locally.
"With the growing economy we have more people in Kenya who have travelled and tasted the fine products and they now want to see the same products in our market," Mr Patel said as quoted by The Business Daily.
The Haagen Dazs is banking on the growing middle class who have enough disposable income to gain entry in to the local market.
"The ice cream market here is vibrant and growing fast, we want to be part of that growth." Patel added.
Haagen Dazs has created a reputation for itself as the second best ice cream brand in the world after Magnum and and it's relying on its big name to set up shop in Nairobi.
"Haagen Dazs reputation as a top ice cream brand should make it easier to grow and gain markert share, " Patel said as quoted by The Business Daily.
