Kenyan telecommunication sector could soon be home to an American firm.
Ciao Group on Tuesday confirmed that it is in talks with Kenyan software provider, Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO)
According to Ciao, the move is part of its strategy to venture into developing markets.
MVNO is a mobile phone company that does not have its own infrastructure, they operate lines like Equitel.
Such companies are known to piggyback on networks of mobile network operators.
“When an MVNO makes a sale of a mobile service, instantaneous and efficient provisioning onto a third-party network providers network is vital. With this acquisition, we will be a go-to solution for not just Kenya, but all East Africa,” said Ciao Group chief executive Aubrey Brown.
Mr Brown did not name the specific company that is set for a possible acquisition.
The group, which has operations in US, Europe, the Middle East and South America, designs and sells telecommunication products.
