ANC Secretary General Godfrey Osostsi has accused his party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula of hypocrisy.
Osostsi argued that the duo's recent call for Luhya unity is doubtable, questioning why they only had to embark on the campaign after falling out with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking during an interview on Radio Citizen on Wednesday, Osotsi claimed that the move is aimed at cleansing the duo's names following several failures within the National Super Alliance (NASA).
He cited the dismal performance in Luhya region in the recently concluded poll, which he said enabled the rival Jubilee Party to secure several seats in the region which is deemed as an opposition bedrock.
''It is suspicious why they only had to wait until the opposition failed in the last presidential poll before calling for unity. They should have done the same earlier before to give NASA a better winning chance as it seems they are just trying to hoodwink the people after failing to deliver,'' said Osotsi.
The two who are currently in the process of merging the parties into one front ahead of the 2022 general elections are also grappling with allegations of cowardice and betrayal after snubbing Odinga's January 30 swearing-in as the people's president.
The two have since announced plans to front a presidential candidate in the 2022 polls.
