The Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting responsible use of alcohol and discourage illicit brewing across the country.
Speaking after paying a courtesy call to Uasin Gishu County Director of Alcoholic Drinks and Control Board Silas Boit, Thursday, KWAL Managing Director Carlos Gomes pledged to work closely with devolved units and other government agencies in fight against illicit brew.
He revealed that KWAL will be officially opening its sales depot in Eldoret town on Friday, a move he said will create hundreds of job opportunities to the locals in the county.
"Once we have the depot we will need people to transport our products to here from Nairobi and also distribute among our customers as well as those who will be selling those products which means there are a lot of jobs at stake," said Mr. Gomes.
On his part the County's director of Alcoholic drinks and control board Silas Boit, challenged KWAL to help curb illicit brew by closely monitoring their products.
He also called for involvement in advocacy on drug and substance use as well as establish a rehabilitation centre under the cooperate social responsibility (CSR).
KWAL has depots in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Nakuru and by establishing a depot in Eldoret it seeks to establish distribution networks for its brands in markets across North Rift and Western Region.
