"Our new office in Nairobi presents an opportunity to focus on building stronger relationships with our customers and their communities," said Andrew Patterson, Bechtel's region president for Africa.
"We are excited about creating a permanent presence in Africa to support our customers in delivering large infrastructure, oil and gas and mining projects."
Patterson will be based in Nairobi.
For more than 70 years, Bechtel has worked in Africa on hundreds of projects.
This history and global experience positions the company well to continue to support Africa to deliver the next generation of major projects.
Bechtel is committed to supporting the continued development of the continent by helping to build transformative and resilient projects, as sustainability is central to Bechtel's approach.
"More than the physical assets we leave behind, Bechtel constructs the enabling environment that benefits society for the long term. This includes building the capacity of local workers, businesses, and communities and having a shared vision and plan to transition local-content programs toward economic development," Patterson said.
