The hunt has begun for the next speaker of Kisii county assembly as political losers and incumbent in the just concluded general elections top the list of contenders.
The speaker’s seat is widely considered the third most powerful docket in the county.
The top contenders seeking the seat include incumbent speaker Kerosi Ondieki who is confident of defending the seat, Knut Kisii South executive secretary Geoffrey Mogire, former Kisii county assembly legal officer Gideon Nyambati, former Basi-Boitang’are MCA Isaiah Mosota and former Bombaba ward rep Koina Onyancha, Ocharo Kebira, Nyaribari Chache parliamentary loser Rachel.
"I will look forward to leading the Kisii county assembly and for all those elected as Mcas, I plead you stand with me," Kerosi spoke at the swearing ceremony of Ongwae.
While he was being sworn in Ongwae promised the local residents that he will ensure that bills that help the common man are passed.
“I am sure I will deliver my mandate in the next five years and this will be highly achieved if I have good working relationship with the members of County Assembly,” he added.
