As reported by Daily Mail Chelsea, Manchester united and Liverpool are said to be interested in the services of the Spurs player, who of late has found game time difficult to come by after regaining full match fitness after he had sustained a kneel injury at the start of the season.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard backs the move of the highly rated defensive midfielder to Anfield in the summer, with the likes of Eric Dier and Moussa Dembele favoured ahead of him.

With Emre Can looking increasingly likely to leave Liverpool, Gerrard called on club chiefs to look for Wanyama as a perfect replacement.

"I think Liverpool would benefit from a monster of a central midfielder, a hold," Gerrard said.

"A Wanyama-type player who does sit in and is disciplined and he would give more protection to the back four," he added.

Wanyama is in his second season with Spurs, and will be interesting to see if he makes the switch.
