A good number of people who hold top offices in the country studied at the University of Nairobi. Here are some of the top government officials who studied at the University of Nairobi.

1. Fred Matiangi 

The former Cabinet Secretary of Education, Science and Technology, Dr Fred Matiangi who now serves as the Cabinet Minister of Interior and coordination of National Government. Before being appointed as the Cabinet Minister of Education he served as the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT). The strict minister studied in the University of Nairobi where he acquired a PhD in Communication and Comparative literature and M.A in English literature.

2. Justin Muturi

He is the 7th speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya. He has been in office since 2013. He is the first speaker to serve following the reestablishment of a bicameral Parliament as recommended by the 2010 Constitution. The speaker of the National Assembly graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelors Degree in law in 1981.

3. Philomena Mwilu

She is a Kenyan lawyer and judge who has served as a Justice of the supreme Court of Kenya and is also the Deputy Chief Justice of Kenya deputizing David Maraga. The Deputy Chief graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelors Degree in law.

4. Wafula Chebukati

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman, Mr Wafula Chebukati graduated from the University of Nairobi in 1985 with a Bachelor of Law degree.

5. Edward Ouko

Mr Edward Ouko is the Auditor-General of the Republic of Kenya. He was appointed the Auditor General on 27 August, 2011. He graduated from the University of Nairobi with a B.com Degree in Finance and accounting from the University of Nairobi.
