The students made it clear that they would only take part in the annual school examination exercise after the said culprits are barred from sitting for the exam.

According to the school's principal, William Mwangi, the students had no bad motive and were only demanding a levelled field and fairness during their examination. He added that all the mentioned culprits had been suspended pending internal investigations to establish the truth of the matter.

This comes at a time when many stakeholders in the country's education sector have attributed the on-going arson attacks targeting schools to exam cheating, claiming they are desperate efforts to counter the ministry's new regulations to curb the vices.

Mwangi also spoke of his actions to fight and eliminate examination cheating which he claims to have been much entrenched in the school and expressed his desire to fight on until the vice is completely eliminated. He stated that though the government had come up with very strict measures to stop the cheating incidences in the national exams, the measures will not succeed if the same is not embraced by the school's administration.

The news following the incident caught many Kenyans by surprise with many expressing mixed reactions over the matter on social media.

A section of them congratulated the students for their good gesture while others blamed the school's administration for failing to take enough measures to prevent the students from accessing the examinations papers before the due date.
