Journalist Stephen Sangira has been linked to the assault of former NCBDA chairman Timothy Muriuki last week.
Sangira was on Wednesday arraigned in court and charged with robbery with violence.
The journalist was charged separately despite being arrested together with EALA MP Simon Mbugua and two others.
Police had requested the court to detain the accused for a period of seven days but the application was opposed by Resident Magistrate Miriam Mugure.
The court released Sangira on a cash bail of Ksh.200,000 pending investigations.
Francis Mwita, an investigating officer told the court that they required more time to carry out an identification parade saying they believe Sangira is connected to a series of other offences committed within the city.
Mwita said Sangira is also being investigated over the attack and robbery of Muriuki at Boulevard hotel on April 30.The hearing was set for July 17 and 18.
