Supreme court Judge Smokin Wanjala has been replaced as a member of the Judicial Service Commission following his application for the Chief Justice position.
Wanjala will be replaced by Court of Appeal judge Mohamed Warsame as the JSC chair for Human Resource and Administration Committee.
Wanjala replacement was confirmed by JSC chairperson Justice Aggrey Muchelule.
"The Judicial Service Commission has replaced the membership of Supreme Court Judge Dr Wanjala following his application for the post of Chief Justice," said Muchelule in a statement.
Wanjala will no longer handle any matter related to JSC because he will appear before the commission for vetting.
The supreme court judge is among six applicants shortlisted for the post of CJ.
