Two top candidates from Busia County in the 2016 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examinations have opted to pursue their secondary school in a Nairobi top private school.
The two rejected joining government schools which had sent them admission letters.
Alpha Lumula who topped in the county with 421 marks had been expected to join Nairobi School.
His colleague Jackson Ojwang' was due to join the prestigious Alliance High School but also rejected the offer.
The two revealed on Thursday that Light Academy in Karen, Nairobi, had offered them full scholarship following a successful interview.
"We shall only carter for shopping during our studies thus the reason ours parents decided to allow us pursue our education there," Ojwang' said.
He said he is comfortable joining Light academy.
"The school has opportunities to expose us to foreign trips. They are also offering 8-4-4 system of education."
Lumula said the school has some of the best facilities compared to most national schools in the country, adding that the performance is also good.
In 2016 KCSE exams, the school recorded a mean score of 9.63 as it had 56 candidates.
The school scored zero As, 22 A-, 15 B+, 4 B plain, 8 B-, 6 C+ and 1 C-.
A total of 428 students from Busia County joined over 90 secondary schools across the country.
