The story of Goldalyn Kakuya, the highest-achieving K.C.P.E girl, gripped the nation for days on end.
She was even invited to State House to meet the most powerful man in Kenya and his deputy, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
That mind-boggling publicity was not accorded to the best boy, Eugene Mburu who hails from Kirinyaga and was also the third best student.
Eugene revealed to a local leading publication that he was envious of the publicity that came Kakuya's ways.
''I am human. I felt jealous, to be honest. I thought the president would have asked where the top boy was so that he could send the message of equality across the board.'' Eugene groused.
Eugene has let that go and he is focusing on the next phase of his life as he prepares to join the coveted Alliance Boys.
