Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i has released the 2017 KCPE results.
Speaking at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) center in Nairobi on Tuesday, Dr Matiang'i said that the top candidate scored 455 marks.
This is an improvement from the 436 marks scored by the top candidate in 2016.
The CS said there were no irregularities in the exams.
9,846 candidates scored 400 marks and above. Last year, the number was 5,144.
