Three top lawyers are among candidates in the crowded Nyamira senatorial race which has also attracted youths who are making debut in politics.

Incumbent Mong’are Okong’o, also a lawyer, who had declared interest in presidency, has since switched gears to governorship position.

Top runners include two constitutional lawyers; Nyambega Mose (Wiper) and Okong’o Mogeni (ODM) and another conveyance lawyer Joseph Kiang’oi, a former North Mugirango MP of Jubilee.

Mogeni, a former LSK chairman came second in 2013 race and was closely followed by Nyambega who finished third in the entertaining race.

Kiangoi on the other hand is making his first trial and is also head of Jubilee campaigns in Nyamira after he decamped from his ODM party that had appointed him to EALA.

But the entrance of youthful aspirants Walter Mounde (ANC), Douglas Maraga (CCM) and Tom Nyayiemi of RBK party has made the race even interesting.

Others in the race include Edward Oendo (NLP), Timothy Rioba (Independent), Nyarinda Moikobu (MCC) and veteran politician Abuya Abuya (KSC).

However, the race seems to revolve around Mogeni, Nyambega and Kiangoi, both who are competing from major parties.
