The seat for Ababu Namwamba’s position as secretary general of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has already begun being scrambled for.
The replacement of the Budalang’i legislator is set to take place on Tuesday morning next week when the party holds it Central Management Committee Meeting.
There are already seven contesters’ who have shown interest in the position so far.
The top leaders running for the seat include Kilifi women representative, Aisha Jumwa, former deputy speaker, Farah Maalim, nominated senator, Elizabeth Ongoro as well as Bungoma County activist Edwin Sifuna.
Analysts have stated that whoever will fill in the position will have to be loyal to the party leader, Raila Odinga and see him earn the title of president come 2017.
Other candidates vying for the title are Homa Bay Women Rep Gladys Wanga, and and Emuhaya MP Wilber Ottichilo.
The exit of Namwamba was not a pretty one and has left ODM in critical shape, however, Raila is determined to keep the party moving no matter what in preparation for the 2017 General Elections.
