President Uhuru Kenyatta is widely recognized as one of Kenya's top leaders who acquired his tertiary studies from outside the country.
However, he doesn’t hold the status alone as some politicians from Nyanza region match him.
Here is a list of Luo politicians who attained their studies from institutions abroad:
1. Raila Odinga: the opposition leader spent two years at the Herder Institute, a faculty at the University of Leipzig in East Germany. He later joined Technical School of Magdeburg where he graduated with an M.Sc. (Masters of Science) in Mechanical Engineering
2. Anyang’ Nyong’o: The Kisumu Governor is graduate Student of the University of Chicago, USA (Ph.D., Political Science). He is also a graduate of Makerere University.
3. Fred Outa: the Kisumu Senator is a product of Biola University,California, USA, M.A. in Intercultural Studies. He also obtained degrees from International School of Theology, California and City University of New York.
4. Cyprian Awiti: the Homa Bay Governor graduated from Manchester University, where he attained a Master of Education in Management Administration.
5. Miguna Miguna: A part from being a University of Nairobi product, the vocal lawyer also pursued higher education in Canada, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in political science and philosophy from the University of Toronto in 1990.
