A top NASA lawyer and confidant of Opposition chief Raila Odinga is reportedly in trouble for 'misleading' the coalition to boycott the October 26 poll.
Sources within the Opposition said there is a feeling the move was not well thought out.
According to a local paper, a meeting of Opposition honchos held at a city hotel degenerated into a name calling after several leaders hit out at the figure.
They said it appeared there was no 'next move' incase IEBC was to go on with the election and announce Uhuru Kenyatta winner.
Speakers at the meeting accused the lawyer of 'butchering Raila's real chance at the presidency'.
Similar sentiments were aired by Opposition supporters online on Tuesday after Raila made his much awaited 'major announcement'.
Supporters said the speech by their leader lacked 'clarity and vigor'.
"You either write a recession or concession speech, Baba you have let us down. Was waiting for a clear way out," Omondi Da'Kisumo posted.
"Baba looks tired. Body language. This speech can't be what we waited for so long. Did someone edit it without Baba knowing?" Jack Oduor wrote.
"This speech was hurriedly written after the attack on journalist. FLAT!" Mike Ndwiga said.
"Am I the only one thinking that Orengo threw the People's President under the bus by advising him to withdraw from the polls?" James L'dak General posted on facebook.
