Lesmam said Nakoru should not be blamed because he has done his job as required by law.

“Nakoru is not the reason for the rampant cases of livestock theft in Nyamira County. The local community should be blamed because they are the same people who have failed to report cattle rustlers to police,” said Lesmam.

The commissioner denied claims that police officers have been colluding with bandits to steal livestock in the area.

“The work of police officers is to protect lives of people and their properties. It is shameful for residents to publicly claim that the same officers are the ones colluding with bandits to steal livestock from the various homesteads in the county.

"Security officers are committed to end cattle rustling in Nyamira County using all means possible,” he added.

He lauded Nyumba Kumi officials for their efforts to ensure bandits are flushed out from villages.

According to Lesmam, cooperation between Nyamira residents and police officers will end livestock theft in the region.
