A section of leaders at the Dock Workers Union (DWU) have been suspended.

Reports indicate that the workers were allegedly suspended for refusing to support the Jubilee Party.

DWU Secretary General Simon Sang suspended Chairman, Mr Mohamed Sheria and two others.

This is  after the two chose to side with National Super Alliance (NASA) affiliate parties.

Sheria is accused of having joined forces with KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion in signing a memorandum of understanding with NASA.

The signing took place on August 4 between unions and NASA.

"That MoU has nothing to do with DWU. It is between Sheria as a person and NASA.

"We made our resolve to support Jubilee Party in November 2016 when we hosted Deputy President William Samoei Ruto and the resolution was made out of our love for our members," Mr Sang said.

He alluded that the suspended officials defied the organization’s stand on political affilaition.

Sheria has, however, asked the Secretary-General to resign from his position before September 30.

The Chairman has threatened to lead a motion to oust Mr Sang during an annual general meeting that will be held on the said date.
