Opposition politicians on Sunday flocked Bomet County for the homecoming party of area Governor Isaac Ruto.
Led by Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka, they trooped one by one to show their solidarity with Mr Ruto who returned on Friday to the country from South Africa after undergoing treatment.
Ruto flew to South Africa two weeks ago after being hit by a teargas canister said to have been fired by a police officer at Silibwet during a football match.
The governor had gone to Silibwet after receiving information that youth allied to his competitor Joyce Laboso had caused a melee during the match.
Some of the high profile personalities at the homecoming event included Kalonzo, Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, Kanu Chairman Gideon Moi, Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma and a host of MPs from both the opposition and Jubilee.
Their meeting could signify the beginning of efforts aimed at forming the National Super Alliance that seeks to trounce Jubilee during the 2017 general election.
ODM leader Raila Odinga, Mr Mudavadi, Mr Kalonzo and Senator Moses Wetangula are set to steer the talks that are said to be targeting to bring in Mr Moi as well as Governor Ruto.
During his return from South Africa thousands of Bomet residents lined-up the street in Bomet town to receive the county chief.
They vowed to defend him in all fronts.
Governor Ruto broke ranks with Deputy President William Ruto after forming his Chama Cha Mashinani party which he intends to use in defending his seat as governor in 2017.
