Political commentator Dismas Mokua has poked holes into the heating lifestyle audit proposal debate.
During a recent tour of the Coastal region, President Uhuru Kenyatta proposed the test as one of his remedies against the rising graft levels in the nation, directing that all state officials be taken through the same.
However, according to Mokua in an interview on Radio Citizen Tuesday, the proposal is a bog joke that cannot see the light of the day in the first place, especially on top government officials, including Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
''Wakenya watazeeka bila kuona hiyo audit ikifanyika, na hata kama itafanywa nani atakayemfanyia rais na makamu wake? (The audit will not happen and even if it were to happen, who will perform it especially on the president and his deputy?),'' he wondered.
''Na hata kama watachunguzwa na wapatikane na makosa watafanywa nini...nani atawapeleka kortini? (even if the audit were to succeed and the two found culpable of graft, what would happen to them and who would undertake the prosecution?),'' he further questioned.
Mokua also stated that the same will face a strong opposition from elected leaders, some of whom, he observed, are involved in graft and will obviously not allow themselves to be subjected to the test, further complicating the anti-graft fight.
