The August 8 elections provided an opportunity for big-name politicians to save their political careers which were at risk following failed bids in their previous bids.However, to some, their political journey suffered even more setback after failing to win any seat.

After spending five years in the political cold, former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati failed in his bid to oust  Nyamira Governor John Nyangarama on a Jubilee ticket.

In the neighboring Kisii County, former South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara who was gunning for the county senator position lost to ODM's Prof. Sam Ongeri, an outcome that confines him to political cold for the next five years.

In Rangwe constituency, in the neighboring Homa Bay County, former MP Martin Ogindo failed in his bid to bring his political comeback on track after losing to am educationist Dr. Lilian Gogo of ODM.

The situation was not any different in Homa Bay Town where former lawmaker John Pesa failed in is bid to oust the incumbent Peter Kaluma of ODM.

Former Rongo MP Ochillo Ayacko who has been in the political cold for the past one decade failed in his bid to oust Migori Governor Okoth Obado.The former lawmaker first lost to Obado in the race for ODM ticket before losing for the second time during the August 8 polls.

In Kisumu, former Muhoroni MP Prof Ayiecho Olweny who lost in the ODM nominations to incumbent Jared K'Oyoo is another big-name politician who will spend the next five years in the political cold after a failed bid.
