Kenyan international striker Michael Olunga has emerged as a top target for La Liga sides Real Sociedad and Real Betis, who are both in hot pursuit of his services.
The former Gor Mahia superstar is currently on loan to Catalan club Girona FC from Chinese Super League contenders Guizhou Zhinchen.
His loan spell at Girona has been a success and this has also prompted the Catalan club, along with Betis and Sociedad, to seek his services for the coming campaign as they have all contacted his representatives in the hope of striking a deal that looks likely.
The front man asked to be excused from Kenya’s friendlies against Equatorial Guinea and Swaziland as he remained in Spain in the hope of securing his future in the Spanish top-flight having earlier expressed his desire to carry on playing there.
“I would like to stay here and continue playing for Girona. I feel good here because Girona is like my home now,” Olunga said earlier on when questioned about his future adding that to him, the La Liga is the best league in the world.
Olunga managed to notch three goals in his eleven appearances for the club which included claiming the match ball when his side faced off with Las Palmas on January 13, 2018, a match in which Girona won 6-0.
With the three Spanish giants after his services, his parent club has expressed an interest to cash in on the forward and their valuation of him is reportedly at Sh700 million.
His salary package of Sh13 million per year might put off some suitors but should he accept to take a pay cut, he will be in for big days ahead.
Girona made history as one of the best performed promoted side in La Liga when they finished as high as 10th in the standings.
Going forward, Olunga needs to have more playing time to develop and become the player all fans would want him to be.
