Nicole Mary ,a KCPE candidate who topped Lake Wood School in Komarok with 445 marks risks missing a chance to join her dream Kenya High School due to lack of funds.

The girl emerged 14th nationally in this years KCPE examination that were released by Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i recently.

According to guidelines document released by the government, the maximum fees payable for boarding schools will be Sh 53,000.

But for Nicole,her parents cannot manage to raise the amount."I have been with my parents all my life and l have seen their struggle. l know they cannot afford to pay much for my school fees," Nicole told the Standard.

Victor Oduor,her father said it has been easy taking care of his family considering his menial job."I wish I would do more towards their education, but things have never worked out for me," said Mr Oduor.

The 48-year old who works as a tax driver in Bondo,says the highest he has ever made in business is Sh 10,000 a month.
