Students who emerged top after sitting local exams in Borabu constituency received awards on Wednesday.
A politician in the constituency, Nyandoro Kambi, told the winners to strive and make the constituency shine academically.
Speaking during the award ceremony, Dr Nyandoro, a vocal politician hailed the constituency's candidates for showing good performance in the exams.
In the exam, the students' performance improved as the candidates scored a mean score of 6.89 compared to last year's 5.24.
The top ten students in the mock exam received university scholarships if the scored the minimum university entry grade in the KCSE examinations.
“I am pleased that our mean score has improved from last year’s and these are good signs that our teachers and candidates are committed," Nyandoro said.
"The first ten students will receive sponsorship as long as they score a minimum university entry grade. We want to shine nationally and that can be done through motivation."
Students from schools that managed a performance index of 5.00 and above will also see their students receive free lunch for a period of three weeks during KCSE exams with performing teachers in respective subjects receiving 2000 each.
“The Kambi Foundation will take care of lunch in all institutions that managed a mean of 5.00 and above," he added.
"Our teachers whose subjects performed in the mock exams will receive Sh2,000 each for every 'A' scored in any subject."
Mwongori Secondary school which has been giving a worthy challenged to county schools such as Sironga and Nyambaria High topped in the exams with a mean of 7.876, the highest since 2003 when St. Kizito Nyansiongo Boys scored a similar mean.
