US advisory firm Andersen Tax has linked up  with Nexus Business Advisory Limited (Nexus) as they attempt to broaden their market into Africa.

Nexus was founded in 2013 by former KPMG partner Philip Muema.

The company will prioritize on tax advisories and corporate deals, acquisitions, transfer pricing and employee compensation structuring.

“Philip is an outstanding professional and will help us create a platform for this strategic market in Africa. Kenya, which is the gateway to East Africa, continues to grow and expand with positive demographics,” said Andersen Tax LLC CEO Mark Vorsatz. “Nexus is at the forefront of tax issues in East Africa and Philip will be responsible for the region, which has excellent potential for growth.”

Accounting firm Arthur Andersen which used to be among the biggest accounting firms in the world purchased the rights to the Andersen name and created the company that is now Andersen Tax.

“The collaboration with Andersen Global offers great possibilities for expansion into new markets and capabilities for both firms,” said Muema.

The firm is hoping to use Nairobi as a gateway to Eastern Africa and the move is sure to increase competition for corporate deals.
