Tana River County and Kilifi are among the worst affected by the heavy rains that have caused havoc in various parts of the country.
This has led to the displacement and marooning of community members necessitating urgent support. So far, 115 camps have been set up in both counties.
The Kenya Red Cross Society has been on ground responding and offering humanitarian support to the affected communities through search, rescue and evacuation operations, conducting assessments and beneficiary registration and distribution of food and non-food items.
The Abbas Gullet-led organisation said since the onset of the long rains, approximately 299,859 people have been displaced, 19,223 animals (livestock) lost and about 21,741 acres of farmland with crops destroyed.
"We continue to respond to support those affected," KRCS said in an update on May 14.
The military has also been engaging in rescue missions in Kilifi County.
