Mr Odinga's former private secretary, Caroli Omondi has announced plans to challenge Suba MP John Mbadi in a duel that is set to be hot.

Mr Mbadi, the ODM chairman may have full control of the Orange party but Omondi, Mr Odinga's former senior aide when he was the Prime Minister has a huge financial muscle.

It's not the first time the two are facing off.

Caroli lost to Mbadi before losing to Moses Kajwang in the contentious ODM nominations for the Homa Bay Senatorial by-elections in 2015.

However, despite losing to Mbadi, Omondi believes the election of his nemesis in 2013 was not because he (Mbadi) was popular but because there was no alternative.

A lawyer by profession, Omondi believes that the legislator is going to use his position as ODM chairman to influence the outcome of the nominations.

In a quick re-battle, the lawmaker vowed to teach Mr Omondi a 'political lesson' if he vies.

"I am worried not on how to defeat him because I will, but by what margin. Because if he gets even 30 percent of the votes, then I would have failed," Mbadi was quoted by the Standard as saying.

He's even defended his development record as area MP since he was elected nearly a decade ago.
