As the Kilifi Governor seat race is expected to be hotly contested, so is the Senate seat which pitting the incumbent and a political novice.
For Senator Stewart Madzayo, a former Industrial Court Judge, his reelection was seen as good as sealed. However, the entry of crowd-moving Kennedy Nyale has thrown the spanner into the works.
Nyale is reportedly upping his stakes by luring a section of the MCAs in the county to support his bid even as he plots for the downfall of the 58-years Madzayo in the race for the precious ODM ticket which almost guarantees his Senatorial seat win considering the party popularity in the region.
Jubilee Party which is making inroads in the region is also reportedly courting the man who is giving Madzayo sleepless nights even as they plot to wrestle both the Senate and Governor seat from ODM.
Governor Amason Kingi who has a clout in the county politics had reportedly fallen out with the Senator over how the county is run. However, the two seem to have buried the hatchet.But area Women Representative Aisha Jumwa whose political influence should not be ignored is said to be favouring a Nyale candidature.
But keen observers of Kilifi politics argue that the Kingi factor will determine the next county Senator considering his influence in ODM.
