ODM party primaries have kicked off in Kakamega County, in the second day of the nominations, as August elections knock.  

The exercise kicked off April 13, in Busia, Bungoma and Machakos counties. 

A tight race is expected between incumbent Shinyalu MP Silverse Lisamula Anami and former area MP Justus Kizito Mugali. Kizito was elected are MP in the 2013 elections, before Lisamula petitioned, claiming elections were rigged. He later took over in a bi-election. 

Other two who are fighting for the ODM party ticket in the Shinyalu MP race include Hudson Karume Muhembere and Caleb Mukanzi Likhanga. 

In Lugari constituency, Nabwera Daraja Nabii could get the ticket without a sweat, after he emerged the only candidate, eyeing to unseat incumbent ANC's Ayub Savula. 

Others with a smooth sailing in the County include Alfred Saidi Khasavuli of Malava consituency and Ikolomani's Vincent Mukhono. 

In Matungu, aspirants Paul Posh Obwora is seeking to beat his rival Paul Aguta Achayo, to clinch the Orange party's nomination ticket. 

Kakamega Woman Representative Rachel Ameso Amollo is also seeking for the party's ticket, to seek a re-election. 

Governor Wycliffe Oparanya was handed direct nomination to defend his seat.

In Khwisero constituency, MP Benjamin Andola Andayi seeks to beat Benjamin Ogunyo Andama who gave him a tough ride in the 2013 general elections. 

Incumbent Butere lawmaker Andrew Toboso faces a challenge from Joseph Inzofu Nyamwata and MCA Habil Nanjendo Bushuru. 

Security has been beefed up in all the polling stations in the county, according to Kakamega ODM Election Board chairman David Sasala. 

ODM is also conducting nominations in Turkana, Narok and Samburu counties today (Saturday).
