The IEBC is set to meet all presidential candidates today, Monday, with the two leading fractions; NASA and Jubilee at loggerheads over important matters.
A clash is brewing with already sharp differences between the parties, with the Opposition coalition telling the IEBC to decide if they should find a solution harmoniously or still battle in court.
Nasa Coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga is set to attend the meeting with the IEBC, after Salim Lone, the alliance’s communication consultant confirming the same.
The IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati called the meeting with all presidential candidates, in order to chart a way forward following a decision by the court to halt printing of ballot papers last week.
Other candidates who are set to attend the meeting include Michael Wainaina, Joseph Nyaga, Abduba Dida, and Japheth Kavinga.
“The commission wishes to invite all presidential candidates for a meeting to be held on July 10, 2017. The agenda of meeting will be to focus on the procurement of papers for presidential elections in readiness for the August 8, elections,” read a statement from the commission.
On Sunday, President Kenyatta accused the IEBC of favouring the opposition alliance, saying the elections will be held on the 8 August as earlier planned.
