After sailing through the NASA wave that swept across Kwale County to clinch the governor seat on a Jubilee Party ticket, Governor-elect Salim Mvurya is expected to face a big headache in the running of the county.

The numbers in the County Assembly do not favour Mvurya, a scenario that may frustrate his administration.NASA affiliate parties clinched 12 out of the 20 MCA seats in the county, Jubilee won six with KANU and Chama cha Uzalendo clinching one position each.According to the Standard, Mvurya who was a key cog of President Uhuru Kenyatta's invasion of the pro-opposition county is keen to secure the backing of opposition MCAs. "The governor was voted in by an overwhelming majority and it will be unwise for MCAs to frustrate his development agenda," said the county government's communication director Kauli Mwembe, as quoted by the daily. However, Puma MCA-elect James Dawa, said they will not accept to be turned against their parties by the Governor, adding that they are ready to give oversight in the running of the county."He will not get an easy ride to appoint his cronies to his cabinet and the chief officer like the last time," he said.Reports indicate that the MCAs are planning to pick Sammy Ruwa, who ran against Mvurya in the August 8 polls as the County Assembly Speaker.
