Nairobi-based lawyer Adrian Kamotho Njenga has filed a petition, seeking for the removal of some of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Njenga who sought to be elected as the Kiharu MP in August 8, 2017, lost his bid to secure Jubilee party to Ndindi Nyoro during nominations.
The lawyer filed the petition before the 19-member National Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs committee, whose chairman and deputy is Baringo North MP William Cheptumo Kandara MP Alice Wahome respectively.
He wants Chief Justice David Maraga and his Deputy Philomena Mwilu removed from office.
Other JSC members targeted include Justices Aggrey Muchelule, Mohammed Warsame, Prof Tom Ojienda, Mercy Deche and Emily Ominde.
According to the lawyer, the seven JSC members have a subjective, personalised and vindictive style of handling complaints against judges.
Njenga wants the Committee to write to President Uhuru Kenyatta to form a tribunal that will summon Maraga, Mwilu and the five for questioning.
Constitutionally, JSC requires a quorum of six members and if the petition succeeds, the body which was created to promote the independence of the Judiciary, could be dismantled.
"They have failed to abide by the standards laid down by the Constitution and precedents by the Justice and Magistrates Vetting Board, and have even departed from the rules applied by the JSC in the Justice Joseph Mutava removal petition,” Njenga was quoted by Daily Nation, on Tuesday.
