Working in the Ministry of Interior which is under the no-nonsense cabinet secretary Fred Matiang'i is becoming complicated for top officials who are now working in fear of a worst-transfer.
Just like the biblical story of the Israelites in Egypt after the death of Joseph there came in a new Pharoah who knew not Joseph, new sheriffs have landed at the interior ministry with demands on a nominal roll to know who is working there and in what department.
The new officials are also hard on administrators who converse in their mother tongue during official meetings.
“We know the new managers are going to make sure this ministry has a face of Kenya and this will probably see some of those who thought they were born here are out. It is a matter of time,” said one senior official.
The official wondered why some people use their mother tongue at work and more so in official meetings.
“They pick phone calls and speak even domestic issues in serious meetings.”
