A mere scuffle for a dining table turned fatal at the Keekorok Lodge in the Maasai Mara National Reserve on Monday night.
This is after a Chinese tour guide insisted that he always used the table that the couple, also Chinese, had occupied.
The couple would hear none of it and the infuriated guide got a knife out of his pocket.
The guide, whose name has been with-held, stabbed the woman twice on her chest and ribs killing her on the spot.
The husband to the deceased was injured and flown to Nairobi Hospital on Tuesday morning for treatment.
“He told them that he could not use any other table and they had to leave and when they refused, he started attacking them using a knife that he was carrying,” said a police officer who attended to the attack.
Confirming the incident, Narok County Police boss Jillo Galgallo said that the incident happened at around 7:30 pm, with the suspect being taken to Narok Police station thereafter.
This comes at a time when there is a wave of gender-based violent attacks in the country.
The management of Keekorok lodge is yet to give a formal communication over the matter.
