The Ministry of Tourism has introduced Tourist Service Vehicle stickers that will distinguish tour vehicles from Public Service Vehicles.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib balala says this will also go a long way in locking out unregistered tourism service vehicles from operating as well as enhancing efficiency and safety.

Tourist arrivals rose to 877,602 up from 752,073 recorded in 2015.

Those arriving through JKIA were 782,013, as compared to 672,789 in 2015 while 92,872 visitors arrived through the Moi International Airport, Mombasa.

Cross border arrivals rose 7.8 percent to close at 465,297. In addition, 2,717 cruise ships called on the Port of Mombasa.

The increase in tourist arrivals has been attributed to aggressive marketing by both the public and private sector.

USA toppled the UK as the leading tourist source market, followed by the UK, India, Uganda, China and Germany.

This will also go a long way in regulating the tourism sector as well as enhancing safety of visitors.
