Tourism Principal Secretary, Fatuma Hirsi Mohamed, hosted the National Assembly's Departmental Committee on Sports, Tourism and Culture for an induction retreat at the Dream of Africa Resort in Malindi, Kilifi County.
The purpose of the retreat, from Wednesday 11th - Saturday 14th April, 2018, was to appraise the Committee members on the Ministry's mandate, projects and achievements.
The PS updated the MPs about the Ministry's Tourism Transformation Agenda 2030 and how it will support the president's Big Four Action Plan.
She requested them to assist the Ministry by pushing through the requisite amendments to the Tourism Policy and Act, so as to align the Ministry's organization structure and operations to the overall government agenda.
The MPs, led by their Chair, Victor Munyaka, committed to support the Ministry's efforts by enacting the necessary and enabling legislative framework to boost the tourism sector in the country.
